But I would also argue that if the Arabs were occupying Israeli territory and possess superior firepower (as Israel does now) but were prevented from pushing the Israelis into the sea from international pressure, the Israelis would use any machinations to free themselves from the Arabs. And this would very likely include terrorist activities too.

The last time the Jews were in an underdog position, they suffered from a lot of terrorism but didn't do much of it -- a couple of splinter groups did it, but most Jews disapproved greatly. We just keep hearing about it because the Arabs like to bring up the same handful of incidents over and over.

And what is this nonsense about Arabs being restrained by international pressure? The world does not expect any standard of behavior from Arab regimes. Have you heard any complaints from the international community about the many hundreds of Palestinians shot without trial as "suspected collaborators" (I've heard lots of them were really shot in feuds or for failing to pay up to one of Arafat's many extortion rings)? Nor have I. For that matter, did the international community complain when Hafez al Assad killed 20,000 people in Hama in 1982? No, that was just standard operating procedure for Arab dictators.

If the arms imbalance were reversed, the Arabs would throw the Jews into the sea with a great slaughter and the world would do nothing. They might make a nice eulogy.

Bear that in mind.
