"It's hard for me to picture someone making $300 a year, voting against this", you would never understand this. There is more to it. Tambo Grande is very rich in mangos. Actually the best in the world. The environment could be screwed. There are many concerns. What happens after mining? Where did you get the $300 figure?

Here is a little story from my past experiences. I was working in the Andes and had to ask a 97 year old Peruvian Farmer the right to use his little bridge so we could get to work. He could of demanded big bucks. He knew we needed the access since this was the only place to pass. What did he what? Simple. Four young workers to help haul the potatoes to the road once a week and more important not to disturb his potatoes.

Throwing money doesn't work all the time.
