BEIJING (Reuters) - China's exports rebounded 17.2 percent in April from a year earlier, a Foreign Trade Ministry think-tank said on Monday, confirming hopes of a recovery in exports after a surprise dip of 3.4 percent in March.

April exports hit $26.725 billion while imports rose 17.8 percent on the year to $25.755 billion, the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation told a news conference.

"China's external trade environment this year is better than last year, but there are still some uncertain factors," said Zheng Zhihai, president of the think-tank.

The April export surge outpaced a 14.1 percent rise in the first two months of the year.
