Welcome to the thread; you bring an interesting perspective to our discussions and I hope you will continue to contribute as we all await the first set of PIII data. From your description of your investment style, IMO you are right to stay out of this one; personally, I get extra utility out of investing in the uncertainty and promise of more development stage companies, so that's my style.

I was interested in your characterization of Betafectin as a vaccine; my understanding is that it functions as an immunomodulator, binding a specific class of cell-surface receptors and stimulating the cytotoxic response (and perhaps proliferation) of neutrophils and monocytes. In this respect it is most similar to the cytokines (a description the co. seems to dislike b/c of the wide side effects of these agents) or the leukocyte growth factors.

Also, I was interested in your take on the short interest. In most of the cases you cited where the shorts were ultimately vindicated, IMO there were analysts making the case for a short position. Perhaps it's because the research coverage is so thin for ABTI, but I haven't heard even a whisper of a short case here. Once again I'll ask, has anyone heard a negative comment (other than the delay) or short case presented?

IMO we truly welcome all opinions here on this thread, and I hope you'll feel totally comfortable adding your opinions and findings to our discussion.
