By definition, if an enterprise continues to exist despite the presence of alternative businesses that could draw its customers away, that business is competitive. Thus, most businesses are competitive. If a business is competitive, it is either very lucky, or managed competently. Since luck could not account for the numbers of competitive businesses, most businesses are managed competently. Since competency in management entails reasonable efficiency, most businesses are reasonably efficient. And since gross and pervasive stupidity would lead to incompetent management, most businesses are managed with a reasonable degree of intelligence. ...... |
