Israeli Ruling Party Rejects Palestinian State

What do you think should be done as a response to the terrorist attacks? If this state came to existence, say tomorrow, Arafat would be its leader, and the state would be either openly terrorist, or tolerating terrorist attacks to be launched from its territory (continuation of current policy of PA).

Joe, why was it necessary to make this decision now? What was the L.Party hoping to accomplish? Did they think they were generating a lot of good will?

Do you think it is rational at this point to even talk about Palestinian state?

No! And do you think its rational to vote on this issue during these tense times where there is hardly any prospects for peace talks, let alone negotiations for a Palestinian state?. This move on the part of the Israeli conservatives plays right into the hands of all the Arabs/Muslim agitators who have said that Israel has no intention of letting Palestine have their own state.

I am not quite sure how Bush imagines this Palestinian state.

Forget about how he imagines a Palestinian state......this move on the part of one of Israel's major parties pretty much deep sixes America's Mideast policy. I am not sure what anyone can do it at this point.

If it weren't for the fact that what happens in the Mideast could screw up things here, I would say ignore them, cut off all aid to both of them, and let them duke it out. This is becoming "stupid is as stupid does". Like most blood feuds, over time neither side makes much sense.
