If your daughters had a problem, and it appeared that it could be solved simply and easily, wouldn't you push for that solution?
I think, though, that there are people here, sadly, whose personal animuses are more important to them than solving a problem they claim they want solved.
In my mediation practice, when the parties come up with a solution that looks as though it would give each side what they want, but they aren't sure how it will work out, my answer is, try it and see. If it does, great. If it doesn't, you can always go back to look again for a different solution.
