Won't be the first time I've been chased by a water snake. Last summer, when I was collecting fresh water mussel shells from a muskrat feeding cache in a small cave next to a lake, the biggest water snake I've ever seen came whipping out to "investigate". It swam right behind me all the way back to my canoe and then slid up onto a rock next to the canoe and stayed there until I left the cave area. Rather amusing.
