At least in the days of Celeron, you were overclocking the board from 67MHz to 100MHz, and that usually had a lot of headroom. These days, board electricals haven't improved all that much, but logic is getting a helluva lot faster. In that respect, 50% overclocks are going to be rare, if at all possible, unless you are willing to live with a few instabilities like STR not working.

With Celeron on a BX board at 100 MHz, everything except the CPU was running within specs.
