Interesting if the analyst is right about no price cuts in the 3rd quarter. That would suggest a couple of things:

1. Intel confidence in a pick up in demand (not consistent with their public statements).
2. Confidence that price isn't an effective market share weapon for AMD right now.
3. Improved GM's going into the 4th quarter, for both Intel and AMD.


Or, if Intel is having bin split problems and they are not confident that they can move volume production and the sweet spot up into the 2.4 Ghz range, they would be killing their ASPs with a price cut. For the last couple of weeks, all the P4 machines advertised at retail were in the 1.6-2.0 Ghz range. Combined with the Pricewatch data, there does appear to be a problem with production at Intel. This may allow AMD to tread water in Q3.
