Motorola Mum On Siemens CDMA Speculation
BY KRISTY BASSUENER
MAY 14, 2002

Wall Street rumors continue to swirl around Motorola and Siemens, with
speculation that Siemens might try to buy Motorola's wireless infrastructure
business. Executives at Siemens reportedly said the German giant would like to
offer wireless technologies prominent in the Americas and South Korea -- i.e.
CDMA -- according to reports. Meanwhile, Motorola executives recently said the
company would like a partner for its mobile infrastructure business. Motorola
officials cite a policy of not commenting on 'rumors and speculation.' Siemens
officials could not be reached for comment.

Such a partnership wouldn't be the first for Motorola and Siemens. Last month,
Siemens agreed to license Motorola's handset technology for its third-generation
phones. At midday, Motorola shares rose about 2 percent to $16.18 and
Siemens shares rose 3 percent to $64.40.
