Water is a minor cost, IMHO, in plant growing, look at it in the following way, tomatoes, cucumbers etc. are the cheaper type of vegies, and they wholesale for about $.50/lb (you pay probably $1 to $2 per pound) or for simplicity $1/kg. That is $1000 per cubic meter of water. Desalination costs are in the worst case $3/cubic meter, and with losses let say $6/cubic meter a very small proportion of total cost of growing vegetable, which is probably in the $200 or less per tonne. The move should not be forcible, but well advertised and well incentivized. Hey, after all, many of the "Palestinians" came to that area for work and making a better living then they did before, that is what should be the "promise" a better life. There is not enough "natural" water for agriculture in "open fields" on the west bank anyhow, one way or another, desalination will have to be adopted (it is already adopted in Saudi Arabia). Why not on a nice land congruent with Gaza which right now is nothing but an empty desert?
