A little news for your CYMI :
Cymer Achieves Key Customer Milestone With Shipment of 500th Excimer Light Source to Canon SAN DIEGO, May 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cymer, Inc. (Nasdaq: CYMI), the world's leading supplier of excimer light sources used in semiconductor manufacturing, today announced it has achieved a significant customer milestone with the shipment of its 500th light source to Canon (Tokyo, Japan) -- one of the world's top lithography equipment suppliers, and the first customer for Cymer's production light sources more than a decade ago. "The performance of exposure tools has improved dramatically, in part with the industry's shift from lamp technology to deep ultraviolet (DUV) light sources. Through its R&D efforts, Cymer has been instrumental in helping bring this technology to market realization," said Takeshi Sekiguchi, deputy chief executive for Canon's optical products operation. "We would like to express our sincere appreciation for Cymer's ongoing commitment to us over the years in delivering reliable light sources, on a timely basis, that offer strong performance at a low cost of operation (CoO). We look forward to continuing our long working relationship with Cymer, as it works toward delivering future light source technologies." According to Pascal Didier, Cymer president and chief operating officer, this milestone shipment reflects Canon's confidence in Cymer as a supplier of advanced light source solutions. "We are pleased to reach this major milestone with our first production light source customer, and we look forward to maintaining our strong relationship with Canon as we help the company achieve further success in the lithography marketplace. Additionally, this achievement serves as yet another demonstration of our ability to successfully deliver the latest, most cutting-edge light source solutions-ultimately, enabling our customers to maximize their competitiveness and grow their market leadership in this Golden Age of DUV." The 500th light source shipment was completed with the delivery of Cymer's most advanced krypton fluoride (KrF) light source to date -- the ELS-7000(TM). Designed for next-generation lithography applications at the 248nm wavelength, the ELS-7000 is a key enabler in the production of devices with sub-130nm design rules. Operating at a 4 kHz repetition rate, the ELS-7000 delivers 10 times more power than the first production light source Cymer shipped to Canon in 1990-a 0.4 kHz KrF light source (4000A). |
