I am sure it can be challenged, it was a fast "back of the envelope" calculation. It is quite clear that in premium crops (as Dukakis was advising farmers, grow endives <g>) the cost of water can be made unimportant. How about shipping berries to Europe during winter? The cost of water to growing cost is probably much smaller than tomatoes and cukes (vbg). In any event, i don't think that such a future society will be particularly successful as an agrarian one, look again at Honk-Kong and Singapore. Zeev
