Here are my gut feelings on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict:

1) The two state solution is inevitable. This is the only practical diplomatic solution the international community is willing to endorse, including the United States. The Palestinians will eventually concede the right of return in exchange for withdraw of all Israeli settlements. Israel's right to exist and defend her sovereign borders will be acknowledged. Water rights will be partitioned equally. I have no idea of what is to become of Jerusalem.

2) Arafat will sign this peace treaty or lose political support from a growing disenfranchised Palestinian populace which is growing fed up with war, poverty, and lies. Arafat is highly likely to receive a bullet in the back of his head from extremist members of his own faction who believe he sold the Palestinian's national interest to the Jews.

3) American taxpayers will pick up the tab, again, for this new peace initiative. The UN will commit very little financial support for the peace plan. Both the Israelis and the Palestinians will complain the United States isn't doing enough for them.

Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day so this peace process will take some time to unfold. If the Berlin Wall can fall or the British and the Irish Republican Army can come to diplomatic terms then anything is possible.
