I share your concern that the fundamental reason for commodities to appreciate is that demand should remain stronger then supply.

With global economic recovery in doubt (to me that is) I see the demand side of the equation remaining suspect. I think real inflation is the scenario for commodity appreciation.

Buy low sell high.

To be able to do that prices first have to be "low". I understand they can still go a lot lower, but it is a requirement in that phrase.

The graphs in the previous link are fairly convincing to me. Trends in markets mean that true value is never realized, always over or under compensated. A lot of money has gone into the USA stock market and now the USA property market. My suspicion is those costs (higher mortgages) will find there way into the general economy. I am not an expert on economics, or the economy. It just strikes me that imbalances still exist in it. I am also concerned about global climate change (which seems to be happening, man made or not) energy supply, and growing unrest in the ME.
