<<What events must take place for KVH to also get a piece of the Boeing kits?>>

I view it as the process of:

1) developing an IMU (which incorporates 3 gyros and 3 accelerometers) with comparable specs and price to the one currently used in the kits,
2) undergoing a series of successful tests,
3) becoming an "approved" secondary source, and
4) being able to deliver product.

The picture of their IMU with an "in development" banner has been on their website since last November.

Per the Q1 CC, they will be able to do #1, have undergone at least one successful test (#2), and can provide product (#4) quickly after approval.

That leaves finishing the testing and receiving approval. A close read of the CC transcript indicates a second source is actively being sought, and has urgency, which could expedite the approval process. Their chances should be good. If you investigate the competing gyro technologies, the current one used is ring-laser gyros (mechanical parts), a mature product where intense effort has been made over the years to get the price down to the current range. KVH says their DSP-5000 FOG gyro (no moving parts) represents a "breakthrough" in FOG technology that takes their specs into the accuracy range needed for smart munitions, and they claim they can beat or match the current price.
