John, I knew Saddler (met him when he was putting Sonny Liston through a workout), who was Foreman's trainer back then, and I liked him very much. What I can't believe about rope a dope was that both Sadder and the so-called officials, allowed Angelo Dundee to walk in and loosen all the ring ropes with nary a question about why he was doing it. Those overly loose ropes absorbed a lot of George's punching power. Even I would have said, "what the heck you doing, Angie?" As much as I like the guy, that was the most incompetent thing Saddler ever did.
