actually, i would think longer life expectancy would require higher expected returns or less risk--after all, longer life means more years without earned income, which means today's investment dollars must cover more days of need in the future.

Unwarranted assumption...

What's to say that all of the additional longevity is non-productive time... Seems to me reasonable that folks would be working longer if they're living longer...
This also seems to be the view of at least some of the folks in government in my country as they discuss moving discretionary and mandatory retirement ages upward.
