Oracle extends surge on heavy volume Shares of Oracle (ORCL) are surging 75 cents, or 8.5 percent, to $9.56 and is now up 19 percent since the end of last week. Volume is 56 million shares, topping its full-day average of approximately 48.4 million shares. On Monday, Wells Fargo had said there was a chance the company would beat its earnings forecast to due better-than-expected operating margins. Wednesday's gains come despite WR Hambrecht cutting fiscal fourth quarter earnings and revenue estimates for the database software company due to continued weakness in enterprise software spending.
