Briefing.com doesn't seem to be attributing the sell off to McTeer's comments, or maybe they just don't know yet:

Over the last hour we have seen the market averages push to fresh highs amid broad based participation (led by tech) with the S&P 600 SmallCap retesting its all time high (fell just 0.14 shy). However, have also seen a quick downside reversal take hold with the Dow and S&P back into negative territory. Have not seen a particular spark for the slide but it did coincide with a plunge in energy prices. There has been some speculation making the rounds that expiration related activity, along with overbought posture that the three day advance triggered, have played a role. Volume is strong with market internals slightly favorable. DOT +0.4%, SOX -0.4%, XOI -1.4%, NYSE Adv/Dec 1634/1559, Nasdaq Adv/Dec 1739/1701
