Source/IG Metall -2: Agreement Confirmed

BOEBLINGEN, Germany (Dow Jones)--IG Metall unions and the German employers association said Wednesday they reached a two-step wage deal that is valid until Dec. 31 2003.

The agreement was first reported by sources and then confirmed by the two sides.

The first stage of the deal means that the 120,000 metal and electronics workers in the southern state of Baden-Wuerttemberg will get a 4% pay rise from June 1 this year. As of June 1 2003, they will get a 3.1% pay rise.
