Microsemi Introduces New Family Of Advanced Ultrafast Recovery Rectifiers
IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 15, 2002--
* Combines Softer Reverse Recovery with Lower Forward Voltage and Reverse Leakage Current * 30A and 70A Versions Rated at 400V and 600V * Targets Power Conversion and Correction Applications
Microsemi Corp. (Nasdaq:MSCC - News), a leading manufacturer of discrete semiconductors and power management integrated circuits, today announced a new family of ultra-fast recovery rectifiers for use in power conversion circuits.
Designated the SSUR(TM) Series, the new ultrafast rectifiers are based on an advanced SuperSoft(TM) silicon process to create a "softer" reverse recovery trace that simplifies the design of high-speed switching circuits.
Typical applications are as freewheeling diodes found in a wide range of industrial and consumer products requiring power conversion through inverters, converters, motor controls and power factor correction circuits.
"These rectifiers are the first in our new SSUR Series family," said Sven Nelson, vice president and general manager of Microsemi's Broomfield, Colo. operation. "We're applying SuperSoft(TM) technology to create additional packages and voltages for introduction in the near future. The next generation, rated at 1200 volts, will follow shortly," he said.
SuperSoft technology is designed to diminish the effects of overshoot and ringing, eliminate or reduce the need for snubbers and decrease electro-magnetic interference (EMI), while providing significantly lower forward voltage and reverse leakage current specifications than are found in conventional rectifiers of this type. Typical forward voltage of the new devices is 1.6V at rated current, with low reverse leakage at nominal operating temperatures.
The first of the new SSUR(TM) rectifiers, rated at 400 and 600 volts, are offered in a choice of 30A DO-4 or 70A DO-5 packages. They are available for immediate sampling and delivery with prices starting at $9.52 in 100-piece quantities. Complete technical information is available on the Microsemi Web site, www.Microsemi.com, under part numbers SSUR3140, SSUR3160, SSUR7140 and SSUR7160. Samples can be ordered through this site, or from Microsemi sales representatives and franchised distributors.
