Servers and options for servers (disk drives, RAID controllers, tape drives, extra memory, and misc option cards) are where CPQ rolls in the big bucks. That is why CPQ is after the Enterprise. Thank goodness Dell is not an Enterprise player (yeah, they slap boxes around Intel server motherboards, but that ain't Enterprise)! Yes, business PCs (DeskPro's) are good for CPQ, but certainly not anywhere near 80% revenue or profits. P.S. Leo: You disappointed me when you bailed on CPQ in the 90's and at 112! Glad to see you came back where ya should've stayed (CPQ closed at 123 7/8)! Although I take Steve with a big grain of salt, I do agree with his philosopy of hold CPQ for 10 years.... still way LONG on CPQ! |
