I have not spent too much time looking into bioleaching. I think improvements in curent heap leaching technology and treating complex ores are efficient enough for most current operations. Still, the day will come whne they will wantto get all the gold and mining under 1gpt will be common.

Uzbek was under Russia, whihc is how USGS data was compiled. I am bullish on all former CIS (the stan's as I call them) contributing more gold production in this decade.

I think the move back over $300 gold will be enough to keep production near current levels (2600mt ) for the rest of this decade. I fugire there is about 800moz of reserves and another 600moz of resources currently know, which should keep us going. The potential in South America (like Barrick's Veladero PAscua Lama) is still huge:

Argentina, Chile said to have big gold potential
"Argentina and Chile have the potential to become major regional gold producers and Argentina alone could quadruple gold exports in four years"

"Argentina's devaluation of the peso in January -- the currency has since fallen around 70 percent against the dollar -- could help the mining sector enormously."
