My memory on this point is a couple years old, but as I recall, Maria is/was married to (or seriously dating) a portfolio manager who's offices were in Ft. Lee NJ (other side of the river from Manhattan). My data point here is from 1997 when I was doing IR.>>>

Two finance professor at Emory University's business school who did a study said they suspected insider trading, but doubted Maria Bartiromo was knowingly involved.

Stocks mentioned by Maria usually made big swings following her comments, but the real trading started at least 10 minutes before her comments.

Typically the stocks would move 41 basis points in the first minutes after she mentioned them.

The study was based on 20 weeks of Bartiromo's reports on 322 stocks.
