long-gone, I think an important component of Clinton's agenda was to diminish the power of the US military and to this end he did whatever he could --- cutting down bases, servicemen, weapons, military spend from Congress, selling consumables etc.
In retrospect, it's clear why --- they weren't his guys. However, as soon as Bush was elected, he rebuilt the military establishment and then went to war. And not only that, he proclaimed an everlasting war --- and without even naming an enemy! So, he's gone right to the top of the class.
I have to tell you that I've always believed that Monica was a spy (possibly even an Israeli agent) who was set-up to entrap him and then to impeach him. It's clear that the military-industrial complex didn't want to do a second JFK-type hit so they found an alternative way to deal with him. Anyway, while under the coercion of the impeachment hearings he did "repent" and bomb Khartoum and then he, and agent Albright, went gung-ho over Kosovo. So, to some extent, he did make good his "misdeeds". |
