A weakened US would not have hurt Israel. Arafat along with Bin Laden and almost all of the Arab world exploited 9/11 by claiming the occupation was a root cause of Arab Islamic discontent and therefore 9/11 was in some ways understandable. The infamous; we condemn it but we need to look at why they did it. We need to address their grievences caused by US policy in the ME and the US support of Israel.
