It's not really the economics that I'm talking about, as a result of MS dominance. In fact, software and PC prices are probably a lot lower, and available to more folks because of MS dominance.

I just think that there are a lot of talented folks that don't get into the software business, because they would have to compete with MS, a major flaw in any business plan. I remember the days of killer apps, and must have upgrades from numerous companies. And I think that we would have a lot more interesting applications if things had worked out to be more competitive for the last ~10 years.

I think Microsoft is a great company, relentlessly competitive and very profitable.
