One of the fascinating aspects of this perpetual soap opera has been the polarization. I can tell that you are trying to see both sides and I respect that, so I'm breaking my silence to give you a different view of "both sides."
I think that you and Dithers make good points.
Even if one is appalled at the histrionics surrounding the accusations or by the middle-school-girls' behavior or by the piling on, however, the bottom line is simple: in any fight, ANY fight, when one party cries "uncle" or "no mas, no mas" or "I beg you to stop," you stop.
I broke my silence once before for this series of posts:

Well, IMHO, there's no way you can gracefully deflect JLA's proposal. ------------------------------ To:kholt who wrote (44347) From: Christopher Hodgkin Tuesday, Feb 19, 2002 12:04 PM View Replies (2) | Respond to of 47612
Well, if that's true, I guess I may just have to be ungraceful. ------------------------------ To:Christopher Hodgkin who wrote (44445) From: kholt Wednesday, Feb 20, 2002 5:16 PM View Replies (1) | Respond to of 47795
Earlier I suggested that there was no way to evade this gracefully. Perhaps I was too subtle, so I will rephrase. Because there is no way to not accept this reasonable deal without appearing for all to see to be a horse's ass. That's why. ---------------------------------
Like Arafat, he should have taken the deal. I wrote him off then. I suggest that you should have, too.
Enough, already!
