I always maintained that the "shrink wrap" model was the best. People love to buy software out of a box with an attractive cover and a manual inside. That has worked so well for MSFT and others over the years. Of course price and functionality make the difference as to whether or not there is a sale. But this is such a "no brainer" for institutional clients to break the MSFT habit, and save a whole bunch of money. The Linux and Mac crowd will love it too. The only folks who it won't make a difference are the "pirates". They like it their cost structure just fine.
