I completely disagree with this Mossberg bashing. I've been reading him for a long time and I think he stands out among reviewers of mass-market tech gear for honesty and objectivity. That's precisely why everybody hates him: unlike the ZD Pocket Press, he is NOT biased toward Microsoft or anybody else. Read his columns about the rotten-to-the-core XP activation scheme. Somebody on the MSFT payroll (i.e., PC Magazine & associates) wouldn't spit on it like Mossberg definitely did.

Doesn't anybody find it odd that everybody on this thread accuses Mossberg of being on the take from Microsoft, when the Microsoft backer (Divit) says he "usually bashes Microsoft"? It's just because he calls 'em as he sees 'em, and nobody's perfect, so he's got good things and bad things to say about most products.

I haven't seen evidence of Mossberg's bias one way or another. Whoever accuses him of bias should accompany the accusation with some evidence. As usual, I am glad to recant my position if I'm wrong. My opinion is still that, while Office XP is overpriced based on monopoly abuse, Star Office "6.0" (that actually makes me grin) is a not-ready-for-prime-time product. I tried StarOffice 5.2 for 3 or 4 hours and it was so amazingly awful that I spent the next couple of hours making sure that every trace of it I could find was gone from my disk and my registry.
