But now it appears that the affidavit may not be all that it's cracked up to be. Apparently a lot of those quotes from emails were taken out of context according to last Wednesday's WSJ article. For instance, according to the article:

"Consider the now infamous "big lie" e-mail message that shows up in Mr. Spitzer's self-congratulatory press release: "The whole idea that we are independent of (the) banking (division) is a big lie." What the attorney general leaves out is the next line of the e-mail in which the investment banker assures the analyst: "no you guys are independent and you can do what you want -- I'm fine with that." Exclusion of the latter sentence clearly alters interpretation of the text."

Does the attorney general have another agenda?
