JM: And what company would you run to that has all that MSFT has going for it. Let us know so that we can join you. One recommendation I got when I challenged someone with the same idea was Mercury MERQ. For the last 3 months he would have been right as far as stock price action was concerned but in the next three yrs will he? The latest headlines for MERQ look like this:
In a press release issued after Thursday's closing bell, the Sunnyvale, Calif., provider of software testing applications reported pro forma earnings of $12.1 million, or 14 cents a share, down from its year-ago equivalent profit of $16.1 million, or 18 cents a share. Both performances exclude items.

Their income was down compared to last year not so with MSFT. Their PE is higher than MSFT's. So where is the bargain here? But the last guy who said what you said was sold on the fact that this was a better place to be than MSFT. When I asked him to point out why the reasons were nebulous at best. MSFT presently suffers from the fact that it is not a small or mid cap stock and that it has done a very poor job of industry press and media relations mangement. The Court thing should pass unless we have opted for communism. Don't be so sure that the next MSFT isn't MSFT.

Remember the name of this board ends in the word Investor. Looked like MERQ wasa bigger spec than MSFT - having none of the market clout nor a balance sheet that would give one staying power. But I would be glad to benefit from your wisdom. JFD
