Hi GM, re: those doors in the back
I've had mixed success. All of the front page links, regardless of topic, go to the directory /news/docs/ I correctly interpreted this as the 'front door'.
I accidentally discovered a link to the direct story of Amelio's interview at macintouch.com - its location went to directory /business/apple/'xxxx' (file number).
Realizing that Macintouch must have a subscription, I fugured that /business/apple/ bypasses the front door name and password requirement.
After this, my initial logic was that you could get in by using the section name (business, etc...) with the topic name (apple, etc...). Thus, I was able to get ALL of the Apple stories from SJ Mercury. Success!
Subsequent attempts to use 'any' company name have yielded null results. Next step of logic thought that company name must refer only to companies listed in the specific edition. Went to front page, found TCI, applied theory. No results.
Final analysis: so far, I can get all the Apple stories, but that's it. However, where there's a Bill, there's a way. Will continue.
Additional comments: SJ Murk is not a serious security situation relative to, for example, Charles Schwab. If a relative idiot like me can get in partially (in about 10 minutes), I assume that the rest of the way can be had by trial and error. May reconsider if the time vs. benefit ratio declines substantially.
