...check whether they are involved with causing the Cal. electricity crisis.

When are people going to wake up and understand that the whole "crisis" was created by SCE (dragging PG&E and SDG&E along with them) being in way too much of a hurry to deregulate? They didn't care about their own home turf/ratepayers. All they were interested in was stripping the old company of everything it could. Then applying that in a global fashion in unregulated profit structure. Edison knew exactly what would happen when one market is deregulated and most others aren't. Edison knew what would happen when "new" owners took over old generating stations and they didn't bother to tell them how to handle the South Coast Air Quality Control Board. Why shouldn't the new owners, after finding out the hard way how to deal with those Militant Liberals; Turn around and sell their electricity out of state just to have it sold back into the state. Heck...Anybody would have done it too.....

BTW: Have you ever seen any salesman who doesn't try to make things look advantageous for himself when it isn't?

The real crime here is the Liberal Democrat Government in California letting Edison and PG&E get away with this. They should have shut down the "deregulated" company. Forced it to declare bankruptcy. Then set up a company who would FOR ONCE, look out for it's own ratepayers. THIS COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN DONE LEGALLY ON THE BASIS THAT THE COMPANIES FAILED TO DEREGULATE WHILE KEEPING THE INTERESTS OF THIER HOME RATEPAYERS IN MIND. The ratepayers who's revenues created the company in the first place.

Why doesn't or ever did the city of Los Angeles have any energy crisis? BECAUSE THEY WERE WORRIED ABOUT LOOKING OUT FOR THEIR RATEPAYERS AND THEY DIDN'T GO WITH DEREGULATION AT THE TIME.
