It is all about balance.
Don't you think?
Knowing thine ownself is crucial (imo). Understanding one's own self is also crucial. Knowing what you want and how to get what you want- very very important, and knowing and understanding yourself is a key to getting what you want.

I think we all have to wear masks in 3d. If we didn't most people who we don't have much in common with wouldn't like us, and 3d would end up looking like SI <shudder>. That's just the way it is. So we tailor who we are to fit the modesty requirements of 3d- we become the equivalent of fast food- not very substantive, fairly inoffensive, and desirable to a wide variety of people.

Now the question is, is there any good reason to express ones inner uncensored person in cyberspace? Artists express their inner uncensored person in writing, and painting and drama. Of course many people have problems with certain persons who are artists for expressing objectionable inner personhoods. I was talking to someone recently about the performance art aspects of SI. Very complex. And so many people are here for so many different reasons.

Enjoyed your post a while ago about SI being more real for some people than for others. I think that is true. And of course the reality of this place probably varies somewhat from time to time for all of us.
