Yes, some biochemical basis [for the placebo effect on psoriasis] is quite possible. Psoriasis is an immune system disorder, and the functioning of the immune system is well-known to be strongly influenced by emotion and stress.

[Anecdote alert]: My own experience is only with mild late-onset psoriasis, thank goodness. My first 2 months of using Dovonex (synthetic Vitamin D) was wildly successful, and since then Dovonex hasn't done squat. I have sadly concluded that the first experience was a placebo effect caused by my dermatologist being very enthusiastic. Now back to high-potency cortisones, which DO work to some extent.
