I see that you came through the fire with your bearskin still intact. It looks a little scorched in places, and there's not much hair on it, but nonetheless it's still there.

I performed an autopsy on one of my DELL bulls and here's what I found inside:

22 Feb 96 DELL ANNOUNCES STOCK REPURCHASE PROGRAM
May Buy Up To 12 Million Shares

29 May 96 DELL ANNOUNCES INCREASE IN STOCK REPURCHASE PROGRAM
To 16 Million Shares

06 Mar 97 DELL ANNOUNCES INCREASE IN STOCK REPURCHASE PROGRAM
to 50 Million Shares:
The amount of shares to be purchased and the timing of purchases of shares will be based on a number of factors, including the price of Dell's stock, the level of stock issuances under the employee stock plans, and market conditions. To date the company has repurchased approximately 21 million shares under the program and has secured options to purchase an additional 10 million shares with exercise dates through September 1997.

So, whenever Mickey Dell buys a share of his stock, it means that there's one less share of DELL for the rest of us to fight over. And since he can time his purchases based on market conditions and the price of the stock, do you think he may have sent his bulls out Friday on a mission to drive up the price of Dell before the split qualification date (Shareholders of record as of July 18)? How else can you explain an overpriced stock with a fat PE going up 9 3/8 points in one day?

Tonight when you get home from windsurfing, fly your INTC jet over the DELL plant, use your TRMB laser guided see-through night vision scope to peek inside Mickey Dell's files and check and see if I'm right on this.

Good Luck
Larry

P.S. Watch out for those CPQ missles. They might try to fire another one off when they get their launch site repaired.
