There's some buzz about broadvision lately - I wanted to read about their products but this article didn't say much. Did they rewrite the product in java, do you know? Thats the first huge issue they need to overcome.

Storefront software technology still isn't being provided by the ERPs, therefore, imo its a space and somebody will win it (I'm talking about the b2c stuff not marketplaces).

I'm working with a vendor right now who employed one of the big-3 ERP vendors to do a storefront. The ERP people decided to enter every online customer as a customer in the ERP customer master!!. Then, for the little $10. yearly subscription charge this vendor charges the ERP people decided to amortize the revenue across a year in the GL, 0.85 per GL period.

Bwahahaha! Software people know how ridiculous this is. Dotcom revenue does not belong in an ERP, unless you are selling cars or some big-ticket items. So now these guys are evaluating other vendors and I don't know if bvsn is on the list... vignette is and digital river(?).

There's probably room for one or maybe 2 vendors in the storefront/cust svc area so I guess I'll look at bvsn revs next qtr and see how they stand up against vign and artg... fwiw vign "story server" doesn't have a great rep either, atg dynamo was the techie's favorite but I've never seen any mktg out of them. Since all these companies have had time to clean up the product offerings its probably a mktg and installed base game at this point. L
