I hear that the internet is flourishing in mainland China, and the government has given up on attempting to suppress it because they finally realized it's impossible to regulate. Mind you, this is in a repressive, lawless country.

The internet will certainly frustrate the world's politicians whose raison d'etre is to regulate, tax and then extort opposing sides with campaign contributions. Internet entrepeneurs can largely bypass them.
