they might use a different name in the patent... to make it harder for "competitors" to find!

I have some IBM and like it in my portfolio just because of their strong patent portfolio. As Cary says, they usually battle the Japanese for the most patents and these often show up in new products (like Copper... I wonder if people that have copper processes pay a royalty to IBM???)
