<I asked a leading strategic expert: “What military objectives a limited war with Pakistan might achieve?” With utmost respect, I have to say, I got no clear answer.>

In days of Kargil disaster, I was one day with ex-Pakistani Air Chief Nur Khan, he was mad like hell on Kargil and asked a very decorated General Gul a simple question, please tell me what are your objectives? His answer was.. 'Costs would be unbearable for India' all Generals think alike. They may go in but like Kargil was difficult to disengage, a limited war will become unlimited and I don't fancy for your sake 140 million more problem makers to start worrying you guys. You will not loose you will definitely win but it will be a A Pyrrhic victory!
(A victory gained at too great a cost: like that of the Greek leader Pyrrhus over the Romans in 279BC ! ) Not even considering nukes you will have huge problem of rehabilitation of broken devastated Pakistanis to settle on hand.

War is not an option this is exactly what the terrorists want, lets not play in their hands that is my whole crux of the matter.
