>Junagadh Muslim Maharaja took its princely state with Hindu majority to India, your Army moved in and annexed it!>
There were 565 or so princely states in India at the time of Partition. You mention problems in three or four. Many of the other 560 princes probably wanted to stay independent too. I think the transfer of princely states to a democracy was one of the smoothest transitions in modern history. It always amazes me how fast it happened.
And if Junagarh Muslim Maharaja took its Hindu majority to a secular India, it was better, because hindus had no place in Pakistan while Muslims still do in India. See Hyderabad itself that you mentioned. It is now known as Cyberabad with its strong information technology base. And Goa. The christians in Goa have no problem at all being in India. You should go to the Carnival sometime when you go to Goa.
And lastly, the Kashmiris. Kashmir was a peaceful place till the late 1970s. Thirty years after the partition. Talk about occupation. Let us compare the occupation of Tibet by China and the alleged occupation of Kashmir by India. The Dalai Lama and a huge number of his followers are exiled to India. They still live in beautiful parts of Himalayas in Himachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, Tibet itself has been forced to become part of China. The Chinese have taken over completely.
Indian Jammu and Kashmir is comprised of three main regions. One is the Srinagar valley which is majority Muslim. The other is the area south of Banihal pass which is predominantly Hindu. And then there is a huge land mass which is a mountain desert, that is Ladakh, which is Buddhist. Pakistan and the whole world always pretends that all of Jammu and Kashmir is Muslim. Incorrect.
There was a minority Hindu community in the muslim dominated Srinagar. The minority Hindu comunity was culturally no different from the Srinagar valley Muslim community. They were all kashmiris, and were not particularly fond of non-kashmiris. But conveniently when the separatist movement started in the early 1980s, the Hindus were persecuted and pushed out of their homes and forced to leave the valley.
Jammu and Kashmir was always treated as a special state in India. I have to check on this - But I have been told that non-kashmiris cannot buy property in Jammu and Kashmir.

>The issue of paramountancy was trampled by your forces, Hyderabad Deccan the Muslim Maharaja the 'Nizam' the man with 21 gun salute was trampled into submission by your armies invading Hyderabad Deccan in 1948 becasue he wanted to keep Hyderabad independent and don't forget Goa the Portuguese colony.>
>But the issue of Hari Singh decision is murky once Junagadh and Deccan were denied these freedoms based on your decision. You did set the precedent of forcing decisions through occupation, how convinient!! >
The key word is precedent. Hyderabad in 1948 and Goa in 1961. And when did Pakistan attack Kashmir forcing Hari Singh to accede? |
