Ashcroft failed to pass the Phoenix memo stuff along to Bush until recently. The thing that gets me is that both parties never, never, learn to get bad news out fast. The whole "What did they know" mentality of the Press will always go for the conspiracy whenever they hold back. Bush's reaction to the news this week was also bad. He should have welcomed an inquiry with an "outside" panel. The old "Warren Report" approach.
