Another interpretation: our meddling and militarization has caused crisis after crisis that we've then gone into to fix.
Take away the post-Vietnam petrodollars, "foreign aid", spook dollars, and you remove the funding and motivation for warlords in most of those "naturally occuring" events.
To dismiss the idea that as the world's only superpower we cause problems by supporting terrorist regimes, is to miss a large category of issues.
It may well be, as some posit, that the world would be a more peaceful democratic and productive place if the military-led Congress had, in fact, sat with their thumbs up their hoozits. Instead of their hands out for the lobbyists.
However, that is an issue that is disregarded, and all foreign entanglement, aid, military involvement, is fiercely defended.
Nothing has changed in that regard, except the scope of the military's war. |
