ICH BIN EIN BERLINER, NICHT!

MSI,

What Der Spiegel reported, Knapp hundert Menschen kamen zu einer Pro-Bush-Demo der Berliner Jungen Union zum ehemaligen Checkpoint Charlie., is that fewer than 100 people showed up at Checkpoint Charlie for a pro-Bush demonstration, whereas it is projected that there will be about 100,000 protesting his arrival tomorrow. I've translated the Der Spiegel article, via Babelfish, and it is truly remarkable how much more foreboding the situation is presented in Der Spiegel than in the Reuters piece in the Times. Tomorrow is going to be a day that Americans aren't likely to forget, if they are actually allowed to see what real citizens, their true compatriots, are engaged in in Berlin. The speeches by the Social Democrats and the Greens completely reflect our own concerns about the war-mongering dictatorial cowboy from Crawford.

I believe America is going to suffer an embarrassment tomorrow, as we are shown to have destroyed the good will of the German people with our thoughtless war-mongering.

Here's the famous card that JFK used to electrify the audience in Berlin in 1963, stating, phonetically: "Ish bin ein Bear lee ner."

You gotta wonder what Dubya's gonna come up with.... from 100,000 admirers to 100,000 protestors. We sure have come a long way in four decades.

Keep in touch, Ray
