I agree, Chris, except Cheney's not "behind" them; he's in the lead.

Tom Daschle wants answers, is tired of WH stonewalling...isn't that just terrible, expecting Bush and Cheney to be accountable to the American public. I guess those slippery oilmen didn't realize accountability is part of their job description:

Senate Democrats are set to subpoena the White House for any and all contacts between the Bush administration and Enron officials.

The Senate Governmental Affairs Committee is expected to issue subpoenas on Wednesday to force the release of information which the Democratic-controlled panel requested in a letter to White House counsel Alberto R. Gonzales nearly eight weeks ago, the FORT WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM is pallning top report in fresh editions.

Although presidential officials were trying late Tuesday to head off the confrontation, Senate Majority Leader Thomas Daschle, D-S.D., accused the White House of stalling and said the committee has "no other choice but to move forward with a subpoena."

The congressional subpoenas would be the first levied against the Bush White House and would further escalate tensions between Senate Democrats and the Republican administration.
