Microsoft invested $1 Billion in Comcast, Gates wants to design a box for digital TV. Windows CE would run on the box and would generate royalties on each box. Microsoft could team up with @Home before all is said and done. Oracle bought a prodcut call Navio from Netscape that is similiar to what MSFT wants to to with the box. Negotiations between Bill and the cable companies are taking place now and should have something put together by Sept. Bill wants to be the centerpiece with Windows CE on the boxes so we can cruise the WWW on the TV. Since Microsoft owns 11% of Comcast, MSFT can FORCE Comcast to end the relationship with @ Home on 6/4/99 and sell its @ Home shares back to the company. Currently @ Home users use a browser based off of Navigator. I went long on Friday, I think with the people behind @ Home along with the top drwaer VC money they received, it should be a winner. I'm not looking for 50% on this deal, more like 500%. This obviously will take a while to reach my goal, but we should see some dramatic changes in the next 3 years concerning bandwidth and moving the WWW to the popular TV. Their architecture seems to be well thought out based on my novice technical background. I hope I added some insight.
