Depends if you're smart enough to dump them when their brief time in the sun disappears. Gold has gone nowhere for years and for the most part, was a waste of capital in anyone's portfolio. The smart thing to do is short gold on days the "experts" lead the sheep back into the market. On those 200point DOW days, short golds. It's a no-brainer. But don't believe you can buy gold today and hold it for a year or two to get rich; it's just a shiny illusion.
